Why did Ted start making memorial products?
The seed for Ella Rose Memorials was sown when Ted lost a child to stillbirth in 2017. To help Ted navigate the loss of his daughter he tirelessly sought as many ways as possible to honour her short life. Tattoos, photos and drawings of his daughter, Ella, have all helped cement her memory and legacy. A local memorial stone mason, Geoff, was able to take Ella’s hand and footprint and transfer them to a small piece of granite to adorn his home. This small artistic piece will last a lifetime and ensure that Ella’s memory will be forever cast in stone.
Ted was so moved and inspired by this piece of granite that he approached Geoff and asked if he could learn the craft of memorial stone masonry in order to create similar pieces of artwork for other people who have lost children. Goeff graciously said yes and so began Ted's journey into creating memorial plaques for families who have lost children to stillbirth.
In 2022 Ted decided to take the same skills and techniques to create a myriad of custom made unique products for people who have suffered loss in their lives. From the outside looking in, creating small memorial products, may seem morbid. But the reality is quite different. Ted takes great pride in creating unique high quality products that help to celebrate, acknowledge and honour a person or pets life that has been cut short. These products give solace in emotionally difficult times and help the integration of grief and healing begin.
